Cebuano Orlan Wamar drains six threes to lead San Juan past Navotas in MPBL

CEBUANO guard Orlan Wamar waxed hot from beyond the arc to lead the San Juan Knights past the Navotas Unipak Sardines, 112-95, in the Chooks-to-Go Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Lakan Season at the San Andres Sports Complex on Monday, January 6, 2020.

Wamar, a product of the University of the Visayas Baby Lancers program, drilled in six three-pointers on his way to registering 21 points and five assists, which was more than enough to push the Knights to their 21st win in 24 tries, good for the best record in the entire league.

Most Valuable Player contender John Wilson added 17 points, seven rebounds and four steals while Mike Ayonayon added 16 markers for the Knights.

The Knights used a 34-19 blast in the second to turn a 28-24 lead into a huge 62-43 halftime advantage. Navotas though, showed some fight as they came within 11, 72-83. Fortunately, Wamar came to the rescue and sparked a decisive 18-6 run with three makes from beyond the arc to bring their lead to 101-78.

The Uni-Pak Sardines-backed squad fell to 6-19.
