PROMISING Cebuano big man William McAloney is taking a step closer to fulfilling his dream of making it to the pros, as he has entered his name for consideration in the 2019 PBA Draft.
The 6-foot-5 left-handed power forward is currently proving himself in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) where he is having an impressive campaign for Cebu, averaging a double-double of 17.3 points and 10.5 rebounds.
In an exclusive talk with SunStar Cebu, the University of San Carlos product admitted that it has always been his dream to one day play in Asia’s very first pay-for-play league.
“It’s the dream of every basketball player to play in the pros,” said McAloney, who added that he feels confident with the skill set he has but remains mindful of the things he also has to improve on.
“I think I am ready but of course, there are still a lot of things that I have to improve on. I just want to give this a shot and take the chance if ever I am given one,” said McAloney.
Aside from his experience in the MPBL, McAloney is also appreciative of the time he got to spend playing in the PBA D-League, where he suited up for the runners-up, Marinerong Pilipino.
“It’s a huge experience for me. I became more mature in the D-League. The coaches there gave me tips on what to do if ever I make it to the pros,” he said.
The PBA Draft is set on December 8 at the Robinson’s Place Manila. The Draft Combine is set on December 4 and 5.
