WITH collegiate student-athletes soon to be allowed to resume practicing, Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) commissioner Felix Tiukinhoy has said he is leaving the decision up to the respective member schools if they would let them train or not.
Last Monday, September 7, the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on Emerging Infectious Diseases released a resolution that now allows collegiate student-athletes to resume training subject to guidelines that will be provided for by a technical working group that will be created by the Commission on Higher Education (Ched).
Ched chairman Prospero De Vera mentioned that the guidelines would be available in a few weeks time and so until then, the student-athletes are still not allowed to practice.
Apprised of the development, Tiukinhoy said the Cesafi is out of the decision-making process on whether teams from the member schools practice or not.
"The Cesafi cancelled its season already. It is the schools' prerogative to practice at their own grave risks of their student athletes," said the league's long-time leader.
"As far as Cesafi is concerned, it has nothing to do with it. The Cesafi will only come in once the Board approves of opening of the new season," he added. (JNP)
