As part of Cherry Mobile's ongoing Festival campaign, the company has revealed a bevy of smartphones and feature phones, most of which we've never seen or heard of before. There are 84 (mostly) new products in total, although Cherry Mobile maintains that not all will be made available in stores simultaneously.
The rollout will be gradual, on a week-to-week basis, but all devices are scheduled to hit retail channels by mid-June, we're told.
According to a company representative we spoke with, the first batch of smartphones to hit the streets are named after precious stones. We should then expect the sub-P3,000 Cherry Mobile Onyx, Garnet, Topaz, Amethyst, Quartz, Ruby, and Emerald to show up in store shelves soon. Ditto for the Cherry Mobile Omega Spectrum, a P4,999 Android Jelly Bean handset with specs to take on the MyPhone Agua Rio (updated with link, April 15). This, too, has been confirmed to arrive in the coming days.
The flagship Cherry Mobile Infinity, meanwhile, will be available in the coming weeks. It's encased in an aluminum unibody and features a 1.7GHz octa-core processor, a 5.5-inch 1080p display, and a 2,900mAh battery that's likely more than enough to get you through the day with normal use, all for a price tag of P14,999. We're hoping it looks and feels as premium as it sounds.
Other Cherry Mobiles that piqued our interest include the following: the Flare Dash, a quad-core 4-incher priced under P4,000 that's "upgradeable to Android KitKat"; the Urban, which boasts quad-core internals, a 4.5-inch qHD display, and Android KitKat 4.4; and the Ultra, an LTE-capable, quad-core handset for P8,999. The full list of upcoming devices appears on the company's website. (With report from Ramon Lopez)
