Filipino NBA prospect Kai Sotto has piqued the interest of the Chicago Bulls, who invited him to a private workout.
The Chicago Bulls are the latest team to take a serious look at the 7-foot-2-inch basketball player. Sotto, 20, previously worked out with the New York Knicks, Cleveland Cavaliers and Orlando Magic.
“The Chicago Bulls are showing interest in drafting Filipino prospect Kai Sotto and are working on bringing him in for a workout,” Chicago-based sports writer Daniel Greenberg shared on Twitter.

Sotto, born in Las Piñas, Philippines, played center for the Ateneo Blue Eagles in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines and for the Adelaide 36ers in Australia’s National Basketball League. He averaged 7.6 points, 4.5 rebounds and 0.7 blocks per 15.2 minutes in 23 games with the Sixers.
The NBA draft workouts will provide teams the opportunity to evaluate Sotto on the court. Sotto is confident that his time with the Adelaide 36ers has prepared him for the NBA.
“I believe that it really helped me develop and improve as a player playing and living in Australia,” he said. “I have adjusted to the physicality and the way of playing (in the NBL).”
Sotto is set to have workouts with 12 NBA teams ahead of the NBA draft on June 23. Thirty teams will pick 58 draft applicants out of 283, which include 36 international players such as Sotto.
The NBA prospect is also scheduled to workout with the Atlanta Hawks later this week.
If Sotto is drafted, he would be the first-ever Philippine-born player in the NBA.
