Chooks-to-Go Sinulog Cup tips off on Wednesday

Commercial basketball in Cebu City is set to come alive once again as the Chooks-to-Go Sinulog Cup 2023 comes off the wraps on Wednesday at the Cebu City Sports Institute.

Opening the festivities will be the game between the Cesafi runners-up, University of Cebu Webmasters and the Naga-based squad, K & L Marketing, at 3 p.m. This will be followed by the match between the powerhouse DH25 RUS—which will have numerous local stars led by Cebu City councilor and PBA legend, Dondon Hontiveros—and Benedicto College-Lakawan of Tacloban.

The last game of Wednesday’s triple-header will feature the University of Southern Philippines Foundation against the UNBL Stars of Bacolod.

The teams have been divided into two divisions and will play a single round-robin in their division. The top two teams of each division will clash in the crossover semifinals where the winners will advance to the winner-take-all finals showdown.

The champion team will be rewarded with a cash prize of P150,000, while the runner-up will receive P75,000. The third placer will get P50,000.

Chooks-to-Go President Ronald Mascariñas reiterated the company’s support for the growth of sports in the Queen City of the South.

“Cebu sports has always had a special place in the heart of Chooks-to-Go. It was here where our sports advocacy started. With our support of the Sinulog Cup, we intend to keep an eye on all the teams here in the hopes of finding potential talent that can be part of the national 3x3 team," said the sports patron.

Chooks-to-Go, the country’s undisputed chicken rotisserie market leader, has long supported sports development in Cebu.

The company was the main sponsor of the 2022 CESAFI which featured events such as basketball, volleyball, and sepak takraw. The company also donated last year to the Sisters of Mary Boystown and Girlstown.
