THE Naga City Police Station launched the “Naga Protekta, Naga Serbisyo Kinasingkasing” program over the weekend.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Junnel Caadlawon, Naga City police chief, they’ve deployed police personnel to help residents cross the national highway that runs through the city in southern Cebu.

Caadlawon said the wide thoroughfare accommodates vehicles of varying sizes, most of which are running at high speed.

He said they wanted to secure the growing number of people out on the streets since public elementary and high schools resumed face-to-face classes on Aug. 22.

He said the Naga City Police Station not only protects the public from crime and violence but also from road vehicular accidents.

Caadlawon added that the program aims to strengthen the local police’s relationship with the community.

"Ubos sa kainit ug nagkataas nga kaso sa kadalanan, usa ka pulis gi paniguro ug palabang ang usa ka mama gadala sa iya anak para sa safety sa iya paglabang sa karsada (With the growing number of road accidents, a police officer makes sure that a mother and her offspring are able to cross the highway safely)," he said.
