TO BRIDGE the Cebu City Hall and its constituents, the Cebu City Public Information Office (PIO) has proposed to have a radio program.
During the budget hearing for the proposed 2021 annual budget, PIO officer-in-charge Razel Cuizon presented the proposed P600,000 budget for a radio program.
Cuizon said the City will look for a radio station that will accept such proposed budget for airtime.
She said the proposed P600,000 will be utilized for the whole year of 2021.
She said one of the staff in the PIO will run the program.
Cebu City Councilor Raul Alcoseba asked if the radio station would also be an avenue for the public to raise their complaints and concerns, and Cuizon said yes.
Cuizon said it will be used as an avenue for the public to get information, as well as raise their complaints to the City Government.
For now, the PIO receives complaints from the public through the Customer Service Center. The complaints are then referred to the concerned department or office, she said.
Cuizon said the PIO has been reliant on social media now and on connection with the barangays to reach the public and relay announcements.
She said there is a need to enforce the information dissemination to reach more constituents, especially those in the upland barangays.
Cuizon said using airtime in radio stations for the City’s radio program has been a practice of past administrations.
Cuizon said they proposed the same program in 2020, but it was not approved. / JJL
