Clarin downs Pagadian in battle of unbeaten teams of VisMin Cup

CLARIN Sto. Niño took down the Pagadian Explorers, 84-71, to remain the only unbeaten team in the 2021 Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup on Sunday, July 18, 2021, at the Pagadian City Gymnasium.

Up by seven in the fourth, Clarin put their stamp on the game with a huge 14-4 run capped off by a triple by Carlo Lastimosa that raised their lead to 17, 87-70, with just a minute left in the match. Clarin boosted their win-loss record up to an immaculate 3-0 while Pagadian suffered its first loss in three matches.

"Stick lang kami sa gameplan namin kahit na 3-0 yung Pagadian. Tinuloy-tuloy lang namin yung magandang depensa namin saka 'yung tiwala sa bawat isa," said Clarin head coach Miguel Borilla Jr.

Despite battling foul trouble all game long, prolific wingman John Wilson finished with 19 points, five rebounds, three steals, and two blocks. Jayvee Marcelino added 13 points, six rebounds, three assists, and three steals while Joseph Eriobu manned the middle ferociously and finished with 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Rich Guinitaran had 19 points, five rebounds and two steals while Mark Benitez also tallied 14 points and 10 rebounds in the losing cause. (JNP)
