College student facing drug raps surrenders

A 21-YEAR-OLD college student who has a warrant for arrest for allegedly peddling drugs surrendered to police in Barangay Taytayan, Bogo City in northern Cebu Wednesday morning, July 20, 2022.

Staff Sergeant Edilberto Tillor, arresting officer of Bogo Police Station, identified the suspect as Deo Quintana, of Barangay Cayang, Bogo City.

Tillor said that around 9 a.m. of Wednesday, July 20, Quintana's lawyer called their station to inform that his client will voluntarily surrender to the police.

"Nanawag ang attorney namo unya nga mosurrender ni ang suspek. After sa tawag, ni diretso na dayon mi with an issued pending warrant dayon gi arrest na namo siya," said Tillor.

On July 6, around 12:20 a.m., drug suspect James Paul Villegas was arrested by police in his place in Barangay Cayang, Bogo City. Seized from him were 192.48 grams of shabu worth P1.2 million.

Quintana was Villegas' cohort who fled from police after noticing the drug operation.

Quintana has been included in the station’s high-value individual list.

On July 13, a warrant was issued by Judge Rico Rentuza against Quintana for violation of Section 5 of Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Drugs Act of 2002.

The suspect is currently detained at the Bogo Police custodial facility. (GDC)
