COMELEC Commissioner asks PWDs, senior citizens, pregnant women to DM her to register to vote

·1 min read

The deadline for registration of voters for the 2022 elections is coming up in a couple of weeks, on September 30, 2021, and the Commission on Elections made it clear yesterday, September 15, that they will not entertain widespread petitions to extend this until October.

Because the continual lockdowns throughout the past couple of years have drastically cut down the opportunities for voters to register, the COMELEC has tried to alleviate the situation by activating satellite registration sites in malls, and by allowing reactivation over email.

At least one of the seven COMELEC commissioners is willing to go the extra mile personally. Commissioner Rowena Guanzon tweeted today that persons with disabilities, senior citizens, and pregnant women can slide into her DMs for assistance in registration.

“If you are a senior citizem, PWD or pregnant and want to register @COMELEC please send me a direct message. Full name. Address. Number,” Guanzon tweeted.

“If you are not pregnant but your wife is, send me a message and COMELEC will give you an appointment,” she added in a follow-up tweet.
