Commission on Election Chairman Sixto Brillantes expressed his satisfaction with the outcome of the 2013 barangay election held on Monday.
Brillantes said there are lesser problems with the election this year compared to the 2010 election.
"You will notice that the incidents reported are very isolated cases," he said.
However, Brillantes said the way some poll "watchers" in some precincts act as if they know the proper process of counting and canvassing of votes is a cause for concern.
"We're coming in the critical time of counting. Sa counting wala pang abogado doon e, mga watcher lang. Mahilig makipag-away ang mga watcher diyan, nag mamarunong sa appreciation ang mga watcher [During counting there are no lawyers, just watchers. The watchers tend to be quarrelsome and assert their own appreciation]," Brillantes said.
At exactly 3 p.m., voting was over in all precincts nationwide, though some areas extended their hours as ordered by the Board of Election Tellers.
The results of the barangay elections are expected to be announced within 24 hours.
