Consolacion beats OCCCI Ormoc to gain solo lead in Pilipinas Super League 21-Under

The Consolacion Sarok Weavers remained unbeaten in the Pilipinas Super League 21-Under VisMin Leg as they outclassed the OCCCI Ormoc Sheermasters, 79-50, on Sunday night at the Lawaan 1 gym in Talisay City.

The victory boosted the Sarok Weavers’ win-loss record to 5-0, good for best in the 10-team tournament.

Consolacion’s stingy defense took the spotlight during Sunday’s match as they held Ormoc to just 21 points in the entire second half. They also held down the Sheermasters to just 32% shooting from the field and forced them to commit a whopping 36 turnovers.

Rovello Robles and Matthew Flores had double-doubles as the former ended up with 22 points and 10 rebounds, while the latter had 11 points and 11 boards.

Ormoc dropped to 2-3.

Meanwhile, in the first game, the Sherilin-Unisol Mandaue Plastic Men climbed to 3-3 after upending the San Fernando Buffalos, 89-77. The Plastic Men took control of the ballgame in the second half and led by as much as 15, 75-60, after back-to-back triples from JZ Dizon and Christopher Isabelo, early in the fourth period.

The Buffalos staged a rally and pulled to within five, 73-78, after a three-point play by Kerk Navarro with 4:36 remaining. But Dizon and Daryl Guerrero answered with layups to give the Plastic Men more breathing room.

Dizon paced the Plastic Men with 18 points and six rebounds, while Acer Go had a complete ballgame with 16 points, six boards, and five steals. Isabelo finished with 10 points, three boards, and three assists.

Andrew Padilla led San Fernando with 17 points and 12 rebounds but the loss dropped them to 2-4 in this tournament.
