A PUBLIC school teacher was arrested by anti-narcotics personnel after he was caught buying suspected shabu from a pusher in Barangay Poblacion Occidental in Consolacion town, northern Cebu at 11 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2020.
P/Maj. Verniño Noserale identified the educator as Jedesteel Luvite Pernito, 46, a teacher at Consolacion National High School.
Pernito was the second teacher from the same school caught by Noserale’s team.
Noserale said he asked the teacher why he was hooked on illegal drugs. Pernito told him that the illegal drugs helped his mind.
“Ana siya nga pa brayt daw niya ning shabu kay makatabang niya isip English teacher. Momaayo daw siya’g samot sa pag-English kon makasuyop (He said shabu made him a bright person as it helped him as an English teacher. His mastery of the English language was excellent if he was high),” Noserale told Superbalita Cebu.
Before the teacher was caught, Noserale’s team had planned to arrest suspected pusher Rachel Bugtai, 31.
Noserale said an undercover police officer pretended to buy a sachet of “shabu” from Bugtai for P200.
Pernito also bought a sachet of the substance from the suspect.
After the arrest, Bugtai also yielded a medium pack of suspected shabu. The marked bills used by the anti-narcotics team in purchasing the illegal drugs from Bugtai and P200 in cash believed to be the suspect’s earnings that night were seized.
The seized illegal drugs weighed 5.6 grams and had a value of over P80,000.
Noserale said Pernito and Bugtai will face complaints for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (GPL)
