The Consolacion Sarok Weavers showed nerves of steel as they hit one big shot after another to take down the tough Sherilin Unisol Mandaue Plastic Men, 73-69, in the Pilipinas Super League 21-Under VisMin Leg on Saturday at the Don Celestino Martinez Sr. Sports and Cultural Center in Bogo City.

The win was like their victory over Davao Occidental as they also trailed by double-figures in this game before turning things around in the endgame. The Sarok Weavers now hold a 2-0 win-loss card to take the solo lead in the standings.

Mandaue appeared ready to take down the defending champions as they took a six-point lead, 67-61, after a layup by JZ Dizon, with 5:41 left. However, Consolacion pulled to within one, 66-67, after a three-point play by Rovello Robles.

The Plastic Men gave themselves a little breathing space with a layup from Zylle Cabellon but the Sarok Weavers kept on coming, eventually grabbing the driver’s seat with baskets from Robles and Froiland Maglasang.

Mandaue had numerous chances to retake the lead but missed them all. Consolacion then hammered the final nail in the coffin of their opponent as Keaton Taburnal leaked out and got an unmolested layup to secure the victory for the Sarok Weavers.

Matt Flores led Consolacion with 16 points and five rebounds, while Dave Paulo added 13. Taburnal battled foul trouble all game long and finished with 11 markers. Maglasang and Robles added 10 points each.

Meanwhile, Mandaue got 15 points from Acer Go, and 12 from Dizon. Cabellon produced 11 points, five assists, three rebounds, and three steals.
