CONSOLACION Vice Mayor Teresa Alegado fractured her left arm when she propped up her hand during her fall on the dance floor in an event on Saturday, May 22, 2021, at Tambuli Beach Resort in Barangay Maribago, Lapu-Lapu City.
Her son, Consolacion Mayor Joannes Alegado, said that her advanced age has made her bones easily prone to injuries.
“Her fall was not that strong but her bones are fragile because of her age. That is the truth and nothing else. This could happen to anyone,” said the mayor in Cebuano.
He said that the dance floor was slippery, which caused his mother to fall.
He thanked their friends who worried about his mother’s situation, saying this gave his mother strength and comfort while recovering.
The mayor is worried that despite what happened to his mother, there are still individuals who “taunt, condemn, scorn, mock, and create false stories.”
He said that his mother has opted to bear these negative reactions.
The mayor and vice mayor of Consolacion were among the public officials and politicians who attended the 10th anniversary of Ako Bisaya Party-list.
During the celebration, Congressman Sonny Lagon stepped down from his position as representative of the party-list and pledged as a new member of One Cebu Party. His wife, Daphne Lagon, former mayor of Tuburan, will succeed him.
Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia led the oath-taking of Lagon and other members of the One Cebu Party.
Lagon announced his plan to run for representative of the sixth district of Cebu, which comprises just the towns of Cordova and Consolacion, in the May 2022 elections.
Because Mandaue City is a highly urbanized city, it became a lone district in 2019. In the upcoming polls, it will have its first representative. (REV/NRC)
