FIFTY-THREE persons were arrested for attending an illegal cockfight in the northern town of Tabogon, Cebu on Saturday afternoon, June 27, 2020.
Police raided the unauthorized activity in Sitio EZ, Barangay Kal-anan. The operation was led by personnel of the Cebu Police Provincial Office-Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB)
PIB Chief Lt. Col. Randy Corret said they rushed to the area after he received a video of the activity.
PIB operatives were accompanied by members of the Tabogon Police Station and the First Provincial Mobile Force Company.
Police seized 17 roosters, 10 gaffs and P2,220 in bet money.
On Sunday morning, June 28, a motorcross in Barangay Pulpogan, Consolacion was stopped on orders of Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia.
During the “off-road motorcycle race,” several persons were reportedly not wearing masks and many failed to practice social distancing.
A team from the Consolacion Police Station was dispatched to the area at 11:30 a.m.
Cebu Province is under general community quarantine status, which allows outdoor non-contact sports but public health standards such as wearing of masks and maintaining social distancing must be observed. (AYB / KAL)
