MANDAUE City Mayor Jonas Cortes wanted to keep the status quo on the city's quarantine status despite the increase in Covid-19 cases.
Data from the Department of Health (DOH) showed that as of January 11, 2021, Mandaue City has 78 active cases, 2,765 total cases, 2,515 total recoveries, and 172 deaths.
The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) has placed Mandaue City under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) since September 2020.
The mayor said the recent spike of Covid-19 cases is due to the private gatherings and parties during the holidays.
Cortes said Mandauehanons should not be complacent and should take precautionary measures to avoid the resurgence of cases.
On the other hand, Cortes said they are looking for ways to buy vaccines against this virus.
"Mandaue City is ready to chip in to buy the vaccine," he said./KFD
