Could Apple unveil thinner, lighter MacBook Pro, updated iCloud at WWDC?

Apple is working on a new line of thinner MacBook Pro laptops and a significant iCloud refresh according to multiple reports from sources including Bloomberg, The Wall Street Journal, 9to5Mac and The Verge.

The new products and services are tipped to be made public at the start of the company’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 11.

Citing people with knowledge of Apple’s plans, Bloomberg said the laptops will run “more powerful chips made by Intel Corp. [codenamed Ivy Bridge]” and will feature high-definition “Retina” displays similar to those used on the iPhone 4S and third generation iPad.

9to5Mac said that the revamped 15” MacBook Pro will be thinner than the current model and will ship without an optical CD or DVD drive. It will feature two Thunderbolt ports, an SD card slot and a high speed USB 3 port. According to the report, the new MacBook Pro is due to arrive in stores this summer.

“Apple's updated MacBook Pro rumored to arrive this summer will feature Nvidia graphics alongside Intel's Ivy Bridge processors, a switch from the AMD GPUs in the current models,” said The Verge.

Apple is widely expected to announce the next version of its iOS mobile operating system at WWDC. An iCloud revamp with new photo and video sharing features may be forthcoming too.

“The Cupertino, Calif., company is also working on a new feature that will allow iCloud users to sync their personal videos via iCloud” said The Wall Street Journal, and will most likely be included in Apple’s iOS 6 mobile operating system.

Updated iPods and and new iMacs are among the additional products rumored to be introduced during WWDC.

WWDC takes place from June 11-15 at Moscone West in San Francisco, CA, USA.
