Covid-19 hits Tuburan Police

·2 min read

FIFTEEN police officers assigned in Tuburan town, northwestern Cebu have tested positive for Covid-19, forcing their superiors to disinfect the police station on Friday, Nov. 13, 2020 and bring them to an isolation center.

Only one officer showed symptoms of the new coronavirus while the rest showed no symptoms.

The Tuburan Municipal Health Office has been conducting contact-tracing efforts to locate and test the police officers’ close contacts.

Police Regional Office 7 Director Albert Ignatius Ferro has ordered the Regional Health Service 7 to give vitamins to the personnel and monitor their physical condition for the duration of the quarantine, which is 14 days.

Most of the infected police officers had secured a cemetery in Tuburan during the observance of All Saints’ Day on Nov. 1 and All Souls’ Day on Nov. 2, before one of them started feeling unwell.

Despite nearly half of the Tuburan police force being hit by Covid-19, Cebu Police Provincial Office Director Aladdin Collado did not place the Tuburan Police Station on lockdown.

The police station will return to normal operations after its disinfection, and the augmentation force from the provincial police headquarters will carry out the functions for the meantime while the remaining Tuburan police officers are waiting for the results of their swab tests.

Collado told the remaining police officers not to go out of the Tuburan Police Station while the results are not yet released.
