THE vaccination program against Covid-19 is now open for the general population, an opportunity eligible vaccinees as of now, or those ages 18 years old and above, must take advantage of to have a very "happy and merry" Christmas 2021, the Visayas Covid-19 Vaccination Operations Center (VVOC) said.
"Although kailangan pa rin natin, pag tayo ay nag register at tayo ay magsusubmit sa ating mga reports, kailangan pa rin natin kung pwede yung mga sub-group classifications kung A2 (senior citizens) or A3 (persons with comorbidities, among others) ba sila, kasama ba yung expanded nila (Though we still have to identify them by our sub-group classifications)," Dr. Mary Jean Loreche, VVOC spokesperson, said in a press briefing on Friday, October 1, 2021.
"Lahat ng bakuna na meron tayo kasama ng Covax facility donation can be used for the general population. This is the best time to be vaccinated so we can have a very happy, merry Christmas," she added.
Loreche said there is already a plan vaccinate children ages 12 to 17 years old this October 15; however, as to the inclusion of Cebu for this pilot vaccination, she said, they haven't received any notice yet as of Saturday, October 2, 2021.
Sought for the number of already registered 12 to 17 years old eligible vaccinees, Loreche said they still have to collate it from the lists of the local government units.
Loreche also said although the masterlisting for children ages 12 to 17 years old is already ongoing, they still have to wait for the proper guidelines and go signal for the vaccination of the pediatric population.
Likewise, Cebu City Acting Mayor Michael Rama, in a separate interview, said there will definitely be a parent's consent for this as these vaccinees are minors.
As of now, they are also still waiting for guidelines and advise from the Department of Health.
Loreche said should these children ages 12 to 17 years old have co-morbidities, then they can be listed under the priority group A3.
As of September 27, Central Visayas already received a total of 3,710,530 doses of Covid-19 vaccine of mixed brands with Sinovac vaccine (1,962,440 doses), Pfizer (847,080), and AstraZeneca (364,560 doses) as brands having the most number of deliveries in the region.
The entire island of Cebu also has a total of 965,337 fully vaccinated individuals as of Thursday, September 30 - from the 1,106,162 individuals vaccinated with first dose as of the same date. (WBS)
