CPPO bares accomplishment report for 2022

THE Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO) has confiscated more than P184 million worth of substance believed to be shabu in separate police operations in the province in 2022.

Data from the CPPO showed that a total of 2,791 drug personalities were arrested, while 4,967 cases were filed in court.

Marijuana plants weighing 51,493.57 grams with a standard drug price of P6,179,228.40 were also confiscated.

In 2022 alone, they also arrested 402 most wanted persons and 2,816 other wanted persons.

The arrest of murder suspect Wenefredo Durado, who was hiding for 31 years after being included in the list of most wanted in Central Visayas, is an example when people and the police work together to bring down the criminals.

The CPPO also strengthened the campaign against loose firearms, wherein they arrested 250 persons for possessing firearms without a license.

They also seized 2,428 low-powered firearms, 12 high-powered firearms and 28 explosives.

Meanwhile, in their efforts against online cockfight (e-sabong) operations and other types of illegal gambling, the municipal and city police stations arrested 4,328 gamblers, of which 1,616 cases were filed at the prosecutor's office and P573,131.75 in bet money was seized.

Majority of those arrested were violators of local ordinance with 74,638 individuals who paid a fine totaling P21,240,733.

The crime index in the entire province also decreased from 1549 in 2,021 to 1,353 in 2022.

The decrease in index crime is a result of the intensifying campaign of each police station in the province against illegal drugs and criminality.

Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia's declaration of all-out war against illegal drugs and the true support of the police have helped the Police Regional Office 7 in the campaign against illegal drugs.

Another thing is the One-Cebu Inter-Agency Interdiction Task Force initiated by the governor to stop the spread of illegal drugs in Cebu. (AYB, TPT)
