PERSONNEL from the Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO) seized more than P20 million worth of illegal drugs and arrested 109 people involved in various criminal activities during its weeklong anti-criminality operations from June 13, 2022 to June 19.

Of those arrested, 26 were illegal drug personalities, 27 were wanted persons, 54 were gamblers and two owners of unlicensed firearms.

In its campaign against illegal drugs, the CPPO seized more than three kilos of shabu with a street value of P20.6 million.

Among the drug personalities arrested was Lyndon Ylanan Rongasan, a high value target arrested in Talisay City.

Police confiscated around 3,000 grams worth of shabu from Rongasan during an operation last Saturday, June 18.

In its anti-illegal gambling operations, the CPPO confiscated P6,157 in bet money.

Against loose firearms, two people were arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms. One firearm with an expired license was surrendered to the police for safekeeping.

“CPPO remains relentless in its fight against illegal drugs and other various criminal activities to ensure the safety and security of all Cebuanos and at the same time maintain the peace and order situation of Cebu Province, basically with the help of the local government unit and the community,” said acting CPPO director Col. Elmer Lim.

Acting CPPO director

Lim also formally introduced himself as acting provincial police director during CPPO’s flag ceremony on Monday, June 20.

He also awarded police personnel and stations in the province who have contributed in their fight against crime.

Lim said he would depend on the support of his colleagues as they can contribute so much for the success of the CPPO and the Philippine National Police (PNP).

His predecessor, Col. Engelbert Soriano, was relieved by the PNP “for career advancement” on June 12, after Soriano voiced his support for Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia’s executive order that makes the wearing of face masks in open and well-ventilated places optional.
