The team behind "Crazy Rich Asians" may soon make a movie in the Philippines, according to a Rappler report.

Author Kevin Kwan and Oscar-nominated producer Lawrence Bender disclosed this during a panel discussion last Thursday (April 21) at the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) global summit, where both men were speakers.

“One of the reasons why we’re here is because we want to make a movie here,” said Bender, who added that Kwan has written a script that is “like a love letter to the Philippines.” No further details were given.

The two men are planning to visit other provinces in the Philippines. “For me, travel is intrinsic to inspiring me to write,” Kwan told the summit. “I’m burning to travel more. This is my first trip in more than two years outside the US."

According to Kwan's Instagram account, Kwan and Bender are currently on the island of Amanpulo.

The duo were also seen with Filipina actress Heart Evangelista, who is friends with Kwan, as well as at a brunch gathering with A-list Filipino personalities including Vicki Belo, Hayden Kho and Solenn Heusaff.

According to The Numbers, "Crazy Rich Asians" made US$3.2 million at the Filipino box office and more than US$238 million worldwide.
