Central Visayas Football Association (CVFA) stayed unbeaten in its campaign in the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) U-19 National Championships Division 2 Visayas Leg after another win June 19 at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC).

CVFA followed up its opening day win with a 2-1 victory over Negros Oriental-Siquijor Regional Football Association (NOSIRFA).

Former Cebu FC forward Keenan Cergneux scored the opening goal in the 28th minute to give CVFA the early lead.

NOSIRFA answered just before the end of the first half after Efren Insertado scored the equalizer in the second minute of added time.

Midfielder Paul Mapula hit the winning goal for CVFA in the 73rd minute of regulation.

CVFA won back-to-back matches after beating Eastern Visayas Regional Football Association (EVRFA), 1-0, last Saturday.

Kaya FC-Iloilo also won its second straight match following a win over EVRFA, 2-0.

Julius Chica hit the back of the net in the 55th minute. Ronie Balmes sealed the match with a goal in the first minute of added time in the second half.

Kaya FC and CVFA both have six points and are the frontrunners for that lone slot in the National Group Stage.

Kaya FC holds a slight edge over CVFA for the top spot by being up ahead by a goal in goal difference.

Kaya FC faces CVFA in the final Group E match on June 22.

"We had a great game in our first (match). Earlier, we got a bit pressured but still got the win. I'm very much confident with our chances this Wednesday as long as we play together as a team," CVFA team manager Jhojo Partosa told SunStar Cebu.

The Group E winner advances to the Group B of the National Group Stage along with the top squads of Group F, Group E and Group H. The teams in Group B will play a single round-robin, in which the team with the most points wins the Visayas-Mindanao tournament and gets promoted to the First Division.
