A 56-YEAR-OLD man who was advised by his family not to ride a bicycle as it was dangerous for him met his untimely death after he was hit by a motorcycle along the diversion road in Barangay Poblacion 3, Carcar City, southern Cebu on Thursday morning, June 16, 2022.

PO1 Jerome Palao of Carcar City Police Station identified the victim as Eduardo Kyamko, a native of San Jose Street, Barangay Poblacion 1 in the city.

Palao told SunStar Cebu that according to the son of the victim based on the accounts of a witness, Kyamco was riding a bicycle along the highway around 7:30 a.m. of Thursday when he was sideswiped by the motorcycle driven by a still unidentified person.

Kyamko reportedly sustained head injuries as he fell into the concrete pavement leading to his death.

The rescue team from the city's Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office brought Kyamko to Cebu Provincial Hospital in Carcar City and later transferred him to a hospital in Cebu City, where he expired at 12:30 noon of the same day.

The family of Kyamko said they already advised the victim not to ride a bicycle as it was dangerous for him but Kyamko ignored them since it was his routine every morning to ride a bicycle to flex his muscles.

According to the witness, the driver of white Suzuki Smash motorcycle wearing a blue Suzuki jacket fled towards further south after the incident. (With TPT)
