DA 7 distributes P2.8M cash assistance to farmers in Toledo, Pinamungajan

A TOTAL of P2.8 million in cash assistance has been extended to the rice farmers in the city of Toledo and the municipality of Pinamungajan on Monday, January 10, 2022.

The financial subsidy is under the Rice Comprehensive Enhancement Fund - Rice Farmers’ Financial Assistance (RCEF-RFFA) program.

Each farmer will receive P5,000.

Department of Agriculture 7 officer-in-charge-regional executive director Joel Elumba said the cash is intended for all rice producers registered under the registry system for basic sector in agriculture, who are affected by the implementation of the Rice Tarrification Law.

Elumba said the cash subsidy will also greatly help the farmers whose farms have been severely damaged by Typhoon Odette.

Currently, Central Visayas is processing the release of cash assistance to farmers in Bohol, Negros Oriental and Siquijor.

Some 71,366 rice farmers in the region will receive the cash subsidy worth P361 million this month. (with PR)
