Davao Occidental rips Asturias apart in Pilipinas Super League 21-Under

THE Davao Occidental Dreamers bounced back in a huge way, demolishing the Asturias Corn Ranchers, 89-68, in the Pilipinas Super League 21-Under VisMin Leg on Friday afternoon, July 15, 2022, at the Don Celestino Martinez Sr. Sports and Cultural Center in Bogo City.

The Dreamers were coming off a 72-76 loss to the reigning champions Consolacion last week and looked hellbent on avenging that loss from the get-go, as they led by 12, 31-19, after the first.

Davao Occidental kept the pressure up the rest of the way, leading by as much as 22, before cruising to the easy win that evened their win-loss record up at 1-1.

Christian Malano scored 22 points on 9-of-12 shooting to pace Davao Occidental. Jude Bagay added 13 markers as nearly everyone who played in the game scored in the one-sided ballgame.

Jannel Saludar led Asturias with 16 points and five rebounds, while Den Rick Orgong had an impressive statline of 11 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, a steal and a block.

Meanwhile, Saturday’s playdate will feature what will surely be a hotly-contested encounter as Consolacion battles the upstart Sherilin-Unisol Mandaue Plastic Men at 2 p.m. at the same venue.

The second game at 4 p.m. will feature the Bogo City Bogoys taking on the Lapu-Lapu City Pantum.
