A MAN was found dead in a fishpond in Sitio Little Hawaii, Purok 2, Barangay Cogon Pardo, Cebu City on Saturday afternoon, September 10, 2022.

The body was discovered past 5 p.m., but rescuers had to wait for the low tide before they could recover it.

Police who arrived had a hard time getting to the scene because of the difficult trail, prompting them to seek the assistance of the rescue squad of the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office.

Staff Sergeant Elijah Jehad Catacutan of the Inayawan Police Station, who is investigating the case, said they have yet to identify the victim.

Catacutan described the man to be between 50 and 60 years old. He wore a black shirt and brown shorts.

Based on their initial investigation, the man may have underestimated the depth of the fishpond and drowned.

“He was seen heading for the fishpond on Friday night. He appeared to be drunk but the people paid him no attention because it was already late,” Catacutan said in Cebuano.

He said they will continue with their investigation until they get to the bottom of the man’s death. (BBT)
