Death of cop inside police camp under investigation

THE Police Regional Office (PRO)-Central Visayas has ordered an investigation on the death of Patrolman Edgardo Silva of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) based in Sibonga town in southern Cebu.

PRO-Central Visayas Director Roderick Agustus Alba extended his condolences to the family of Silva.

"Eto lang yong klaro kong instruction sa ating PD at sa chief of police sa ating police and station doon and the RMFB commander, they have to get their act together and be objective kon ano talaga ang nangyari. Imbestigahan," Alba said.

(This is my clear instruction to our provincial director and the chief of police in our police and station there and the RMFB commander, they have to get their act together and be objective about what really happened. Investigate.)

Alba said the investigation has already started, adding that he gave the team tasked to do the probe enough time.

"It’s a very unfortunate incident of a rookie policeman. Ngayon, there are so many speculations going around kon ano circumstance nang pagkamatay ni Silva (what are the circumstances in Silva’s death)," he said.

Silva was found dead while lying in bed inside the RMFB camp Wednesday morning, November 2.

Alba said he will wait for the result of the investigation.

He also said that he instructed the chief of the Regional Medical Dental Unit-Central Visayas to check the “psychological health and fitness” of the policemen. (BBT/LMY)
