BuCor Chief Ronald dela Rosa
MUNTINLUPA CITY, Philippines – Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Chief Ronald dela Rosa is determined to cleanse the agency of illegal drug transactions.
Dela Rosa said it is unbecoming for an agency in charge of corrections and reformations to be penetrated with officers and personnel involved in illegal drugs.
“Kung user ka tapos nag-gu-guwardiya ka sa loob, ano pa? Hindi ka makikipagsabwatan doon sa mga gumagamit sa loob? Yung nga nagne negosyo sa loob…It’s very unbecoming of yourself to be a correction officer and at the same time a drug user very unbecoming iyan,” Dela Rosa said.
(If you’re a user and you’re a guard, are you sure you will never connive with the users and traders inside? It’s very unbecoming to be a correction officer and at the same time a drug user.)
In line with this, Dela Rosa already ordered accounting on 24 BuCor employees who are included in the drugs watch list of President Rodrigo Duterte. He wants to make sure that proper charges have already been filed against them.
“Ang ginawa sa kanila pala, binigyan sila ng chance na magpa rehab,” he said.
(What happened was, they were given a chance to go to rehab.)
Dela Rosa vowed to strictly impose internal cleansing within the agency same way he did in the Philippine National Police (PNP) during his term as PNP chief.
“Iba sa policy namin sa PNP noon na walang rehab rehab. Sa PNP na pag positive ka, dismiss ka. Ganon dapat ka istrikto ang implementation sa internal cleansing program,” Dela Rosa concluded.
(Unlike our policy in the PNP, there’s no chance for rehab. Once you test positive, you’re dismissed. That’s how strict the implementation of internal cleansing should be.) – Lea Ylagan
