Demi Lovato isn't afraid to bare it all.
The "Cool for the Summer" singer posted a rare, makeup-free selfie to her Instagram yesterday--her first in years--showing off radiant skin, freckles, and a plush pout.
"Haven't done a #NoMakeupMonday in yearssss but I figured after posting so many glamorous pics with tons of makeup and hair pieces, it's important to show myself underneath it all," wrote Lovato in the caption. "This is what I look like 85%-90% of the time. Proud of my freckles, proud of booty chin and proud of myself for loving and accepting myself the way I am. 🖤 #ILoveMe"
The pop star hasn't been shy to share details on how she's learned to prioritize self-care and self-love in recent months. Lovato recently appeared on Ashley Graham's Pretty Big Deal podcast to discuss her journey to accepting her body and natural looks. For Lovato, practicing body acceptance has been a crucial part of her recovery--the singer was hospitalized for an overdose in July 2018. She acknowledged, however, that accepting her looks is a gradual journey with good days and bad days.
"Now when I look in the mirror and I start to have a negative thought, I don't stop and say, 'No, you're beautiful, you're gorgeous, I love you, you're perfect the way you are.' Because I don't believe that," Lovato said. "I would love to be in a place where I can say I'm super confident in my body. But the reality is, I'm not."
She later said, "I finally feel like I have freedom from it because I literally don't know my weight. And it's the most free that I've ever felt in my whole life."
