Dennis Trillo’s Contract With GMA-7 Ending Soon: Is He Moving To Another Network?

MANILA, Philippines - Much awarded actor Dennis Trillo's contract with GMA Network will expire early this year and so the inevitable question in the minds of all is: Is he transferring to another network, for instance TV5? After all, TV5, with its seemingly unlimited financial resources, is said to be the highest payer of talent fees among all the networks.

In a recent interview, Trillo admitted that indeed his contract with GMA-7, his home studio for nine years, will soon expire. But this doesn't mean that the actor is planning to move to another network like TV 5 which now has among its talents some of the big stars from other networks, like the superstar Nora Aunor, the megastar Sharon Cuneta, Aga Muhlach and Derek Ramsay among others.

"Wala naman akong planong lumipat sa ibang network, wala pa kaming pinagusapan ni Popoy (Caritativo, his able manager of many years now). My nine years with GMA-7 has been very fruitful, ang dami kong naging projects na magaganda naman, at napaka-ungrateful ko naman kung basta na lang ako aalis," the actor said.

Trillo may have played numerous and varied roles in his TV and movie projects in a span of nine years but there are many more roles that he would like to explore in his career. In his current soap, the top rating Koreanovela Pinoy adaptation of "Temptation of Wife," where he co-stars with Kapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera, emerging Kontrabida Queen Glaiza de Castro and former Kapamilya star Rafael Rossel, he plays Marcel. "Dito pinagaagawan ako ng dalawang babae (Marian who plays his wife Angeline, and Glaiza who portrays his mistress). Lagi na lang ganito. Ang gusto naman sana yung ako ang maghahabol ng babae. Nang maiba naman," he said with a smile.

He added that he would like to do action roles at this point of his career; like the ones played by the late Rudy "Daboy" Fernandez, but not like the famed FPJ flicks "kasi parang hindi na akma sa panahon na ito. Gusto ko yung kagaya ng 'Bourne Legacy' series." He really wishes, he stressed, "na maibalik ang action genre sa local movie industry."

Trillo confessed that he shies away from fantasy concept of projects, "I'd rather do action na believable at puedeng nangyari unlike in fantasy shows or films."

Trillo has also showcased his versatility as an actor with his appearance in the long-running GMA gag show "Bubble Gang." He said "comfortable naman ako doing comedy but I must admit na intimidated ako sa galing nila Michael V. and Ogie Alcasid and the rest in the show."

For 2013, Trillo hopes to do more soaps and films (the last movie he was in was in Regal Entertainments' entry to the 2012 Metro Manila Film Festival "Shake, Rattle and Roll 14"). "Sana tuloy-tuloy mga projects kasi kapag na bakante ka kahit dalawang buwan lang, pag sumalang ka ulit in front of the camera, parang mangangapa ka na naman."

Trillo confessed he has no girlfriend at the moment. He denied rumors saying he and former girlfriend Cristine Reyes are back into each other's arms. He also denied insinuations that there is something romantic developing between him and Glaiza de Castro inspite of all their intimate scenes in "Temptation of Wife." He said "sa aming dalawa ni Glaiza, trabaho lang."
