AROUND 120 bamboo poles were confiscated by the personnel of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Community Environment and Natural Resource Office (DENR-Centro) in Talibon, Bohol.

Patrolman Jayson Cristal of Talibon Police Station said the DENR-Cenro officials also arrested three persons for transporting the bamboo products without the necessary permits around 8 a.m. on Tuesday, June 7, 2022.

The suspects were identified as Fernando Torres, 54; Fernando Biaras, 35; and Martin Miñoza, 29; both from Barangay Bagacay, Talibon.

Cristal said the three were apprehended after they failed to present a permit for the bamboo products that they loaded into the pumpboat in Bagacay port.

Cristal said the suspects failed to hide all the bamboo poles as some of these had protruded from its cover.

The three were bought to the DENR Cenro office for temporary detention.

They will face charges in violation of Section 77 of Presidential Decree 705, otherwise known as the "Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines." (BBT, TPT)
