The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region-12 has seized illegally-cut forest products in Aleosan, Cotabato Province.

The Anti-Illegal Logging Task Force (AILTF) of the Midsayap Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) seized 1,520 board feet of undocumented forest products on June 1.

CENR Officer Badjury H. Mustapha said they received a report from a concerned citizen about possible undocumented logs.

“I immediately ordered the CENRO Midsayap AILTF personnel to verify the report we have received from the concerned citizen,” he said.

Upon investigation, authorities found the stockpile of abandoned illegally-cut species in the barangay road of San Mateo in Aleosan.

Mustapha said his office did not issue any tree cutting permits in the said barangay and ordered the immediate confiscation of the forest products.

“DENR and police investigations are ongoing to identify the real owner of the seized logs which are currently under the custody of CENRO Midsayap for safekeeping,” the DENR-12 said. –AAC
