A WOMAN tried to take her own life on N. Bacalso Ave. in Barangay Linao-Lipata in the southern town of Minglanilla, Cebu on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2022.

Staff Sergeant Mark Rosaroso, desk officer of the Minglanilla Police Station, said they received a call from a concerned citizen around 5:40 a.m. that a woman had jumped off the skywalk in front of the Lipata Central School.

Rosaroso identified the victim as a 24-year-old college graduate from Barangay Pakigne.

Mary (real name withheld) sustained cuts and bruises from the jump.

Personnel from the Minglanilla Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office rushed her to the Minglanilla District Hospital.

Relatives told police that Mary had been depressed because she couldn’t find work. They said she applied many times but was always unsuccessful.

They also said Mary hadn’t been sleeping well, which they blamed for her acting weird lately.

Mary’s condition is being monitored at the hospital.
