DH25-RUS captures second straight win in Chooks-to-Go Sinulog Cup

The DH25-RUS captured their second win in the Chooks-to-Go Sinulog Cup 2023 in dominant fashion as they ran roughshod over the University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors, 77-49, on Thursday at the Cebu Coliseum.

The result was hardly in doubt as the Rock Alcoseba-coached DH25-RUS opened the game up with a 20-12 salvo after the first canto—a lead that they doubled, 39-23, at halftime. DH25-RUS was merciless and continued to pour it on to lead by as much as 31, 75-44, en route to getting the easy win.

Veterans Reed Juntilla and Jonel Bonganciso had 11 points each to lead DH25-RUS, while Jaybie Mantilla filled the stat sheet with 10 points, five rebounds, five assists, and six steals. Former PBA star Dondon Hontiveros also flirted with a triple-double with seven points, six boards, and seven assists.

In other games, the University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters bounced back from the 75-74 loss to K&L Marketing with a clinical 79-52 beatdown of the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Panthers.

UC established their dominance early on and led, 26-13, after the first period and never looked back to pick up the win and even their record up at 1-1.

Danie Lapiz paced UC with 18 points while John Dajab put up 14 markers.

And finally, the EGS Aneda Builders debuted in style, winning over the Benedicto College – Lakawan, 88-77. Benedicto College actually led, 65-57, but EGS exploded in the fourth, outscoring their foes, 30-12, to snatch the win.

National University Bulldogs guard John Galinato had 18 points to lead EGS, while former UC aces Justine Dacalos and Michael Lawas put up 15 and 14 points, respectively.
