MANILA, Philippines - For the first time, Diana Zubiri publicly addressed rumors that she had been married. Her admission came during the "Don't Lie To Me" on "Showbiz Central," July 8, hosted by John Lapuz.
Asked if the reason for her sabbatical from showbiz was a result of her November 2008 marriage, Diana simply answered, "Yes." Yet, to this day, she still refuses to name the man she married.
But a sadder revelation followed, as she admitted they did not live as husband and wife for long "kasi nagkasakit siya."
Diana shared, "Actually September 2010 ay nawala na siya."
The sexy actress' husband died of liver cirrhosis.
Grateful that news about her husband's death did not make it to the papers, she said, "Kaya 'yun, gusto kong magpasalamat sa mga tao na nakaintindi ng sitwasyon ko noon at saka 'yung desisyon ko talaga na maging private muna 'yung nangyari nga sa akin."
It wasn't an easy thing to accept for Diana. "Hindi ko alam kung ano 'yung pakiramdam, exactly kung ano ang tawag doon. Malungkot, tapos maraming tanong na siyempre..." But she also added, "...Ngayon ay moving on naman," and "okay na naman ako."
Diana, who is on her third year in college now, also shared, "Dinivert ko 'yung attention ko sa ibang bagay. 'Yun talaga 'yung reason kung bakit ako nag-aral."
On a lighter note, prior to talking about her departed husband, she was asked if she thought herself the sexiest among celebrities that had graced the FMH covers to be later included in the Sexiest Pinays list.
She said yes, and explained, "Tingin ko kasi ano, siguro ganda lang. Hindi ko kailangang mangampanya para manalo."
The voting before was done through ballots so "sa tingin ko ako pa rin [ang pinaka-sexy]."
She also clarified the issue of her supposedly walking out purportedly during the shoot of her indie film "Bahay Bata."
"Akala nila 'yung dahan-dahang paglakad [ay walkout]," she explained. "Hindi ko alam kung bakit na-issue. Ang pagkakaalam ko, noong gusto nila akong mag-shoot ng ilang scenes. Hindi na ako puwede noon."
Nevertheless, she won best performance in a lead role at the Young Critics Circle for her portrayal in the indie film.
But even that created a stir when, during her acceptance speech, she expressed surprise for winning because all she did was walk throughout the movie.
"Kasi isa akong nurse doon. Siyempre nagra-round, lakad nang lakad," she now clarified.
