Did you notice the pasta shirts in HBO’s ‘White Lotus’? This is the NYC-based brand behind the fun vacay look

If you’ve been tuning in for the second season of HBO’s White Lotus, it’s hard to miss the waiters’ outfits as they serve cocktails on the beach. During the second episode, which aired on Sunday, Nov. 6, the staff dons terry cloth shirts and shorts adorned with spaghetti alle vongole (aka, spaghetti with clams). It’s a subtle nod to Jennifer Coolidge’s character, Jane McQuade’s, described perfect day in Sicily. However, it’s also a fun look that’s definitely unique, a little bit chic and guaranteed to start a conversation.

Tombolo, the NYC-based brand behind the uniform, is known for its cheeky terry cloth cabana shirts. In fact, I immediately recognized the pasta shirt because I bought it for my boyfriend at its Montauk store this summer. It’s the brand’s ‘Vongole!’ Cabana Shirt paired with the matching ‘Vongole!’ Cabana Shorts. I was actually inspired to check out the brand after seeing its cabana shirts on the staff at another popular summer haunt in the Hamptons, The Surf Lodge.

Tombolo describes itself on its Instagram as “inactivewear for leisurely escapes” and on its website as “maximalist inactivewear” or “escapewear.” Take with that what you will, but most of its items are basically lighthearted beachwear. In fact, “tombolo” is the Italian word for a bar of sand that connects an island to the mainland.

Some of its unisex cabana shirts are downright ridiculous (ridiculously awesome anyways) and feature tennis-inspired embroidery, golf ball buttons or limoncello bottles. There are a few more basic styles too, like its ‘Black Tie Optional’ Cabana Shirt.

However, while its styles are pretty carefree, Tombolo has a serious side, too. It donates at least 1% of its revenue to environmental causes and at least $1 from every order to humanitarian causes, like the Arctic Ice Project and GlobalGiving’s Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund.

You can shop the White Lotus uniform, along with sweaters, hats, Hawaiian shirts, swimsuits and other vacay-appropriate looks on Tombolo’s website. Perhaps it takes a specific kind of personality to pull off some of its styles, but if you’re up for it, you should at least try.
