DILG to outgoing execs: Facilitate smooth transfer of power

OUTGOING officials in Cebu Province are urged to observe a smooth transition of power and to properly turn over all documents to their successors at noon of June 30, 2022, the start of the new term.

Lawyer Kenneth Ian Lucero, the newly appointed director of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Cebu Provincial Office, said Monday, June 6, that there should be a proper turnover and inventory of government assets and documents, particularly those involving ongoing projects and programs, during the transition period.

Lucero said a local governance transition team should be organized to facilitate a smooth transfer of power.

Lucero further said a smooth transition of power also means a smooth continuation of government services to the public.

He said it would depend on the transition team of both parties if they would prefer to conduct the turnover ahead of the scheduled oathtaking, so the incoming official can conduct a review the documents in advance.

Lucero, however, expressed no worries concerning the transition in the province since officials already know their responsibilities as public servants.
