PRESIDENTIAL Assistant for the Visayas Secretary Michael Lloyd Dino was once again recognized for his continued efforts in the fight against Covid-19 in the Visayas.
The Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) accorded Secretary Dino a plaque of appreciation for "his unconditional commitment and support given to VSMMC during the Covid-19 pandemic crisis."
VSMMC medical center chief Dr. Gerardo Aquino personally handed the plaque to Secretary Dino last Friday, August 14, during the National Hospital Week Celebration.
The Cristina Lee Dino Foundation (CLDF), through the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (OPAV), has donated medical equipment and supplies to the hospital since March of this year.
Back in March, VSMMC was the only hospital in the Visayas to be accredited by the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) as one of the Subnational Laboratories in the country for confirmatory Covid-19 testing.
Secretary Dino through CLDF, made sure that personal protective equipment (PPEs) and masks were donated to the hospital to ensure its healthcare workers would be protected from the virus.
The foundation, through OPAV, also donated six Powered Air-Purifying Respirators to ensure the safety of patients and healthcare workers during cardiac surgeries.
These respirators would help healthcare workers as they continue to serve patients during this pandemic.
Since the first week of July, OPAV, through the generosity of its private sector partner Eric Uy, has delivered food packs to VSMMC frontliners.
Through ensuring that medical frontliners are well fed, OPAV thanked medical frontliners who have worked tirelessly to save lives in the medical battlefield despite the great risks that they face everyday.
OPAV continues to deliver 320 food packs thrice a week since the start of July. To date, OPAV has already distributed more than 4,000 food packs. (PR)
