DIPOLOG HOSPITAL

DIPOLOG CITY (PIA) - The Presidential fund is sufficient to finance the ongoing construction of the Dipolog City Hospital, and the city government need not apply for a loan to finish the project. This was the assurance of Engineer Albert Alimpulos, the concurrent City Development Coordinator here amidst allegations that the city government is planning to apply for a loan to finance the construction of the medical facility. President Aquino, in his campaign sorties during the 2010 Presidential election, has committed P200 million for the construction of the hospital here. Alimpulos said the initial release of P50 million was used for the Phase I of the project.

ART EXHIBIT

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA) - Budding visual artists here will be showcasing their talents in an art exhibition from August 13 to 31, at the City Tourism Showhouse. Dubbed ''Art Tsada,'' the exhibit will feature the works of local artists who brought the city's rich heritage and culture in canvas in recognition of the Kagay-anon cultural heritage, history, natural wonders, values, and socio-cultural and economic aspirations. This city, through the City Tourism Office, will host the art exhibition in celebration of the Kagay-an Festival. The event is supported by the National Commission for Culture and Arts' Visual Arts Committee.

VILLAGE TRAINEES

OZAMIZ CITY (PIA) - At least 16 trainees from Barangay Carmen has successfully passed the electrical installation and maintenance national certificate (NC) II from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). They also attained confirmation under the Alternative Learning System (ALS) of the Department of Education (DepEd) through Susan B. Carpio, ALS supervisor of the Ozamiz City Schools Division. The training, which was initiated by TESDA with Rico Sy, a TESDA trainor, is one of the activities lined-up under the committee on livelihood headed by Village Official Nelson Canumay of Barangay Carmen.

KIDS' WELFARE

NABUNTURAN, Compostela Valley (PIA) - The ''Adopt-a-Child'' project of the province has been intensified by expanding the initiative with the core mission of addressing malnutrition among children. The program began in December, 2010, when Governor Arturo T. Uy, chairman of the Provincial Nutrition Council, launched the Adopt-a-Child program to further strengthen the nutrition program geared towards uplifting the health and nutrition condition of the constituents particularly the children. The program was piloted in Montevista where the provincial employees sponsored a 120-day supplemental feeding to an identified malnourish child.

INVESTMENT SITES

GENERAL SANTOS CITY (PIA) - The city government has proposed five priority investment areas to private sectors here, which they could develop and operate under the public-private partnership (PPP) scheme. Meriam Buguis, head of the City Economic Management and Cooperative Development Office (CEMCDO), presented the proposed investment areas at an investment forum on public-private partnership held here. Buguis expressed confidence that development of the sites will push local economy forward and help generate jobs for unemployed sectors in the city.
