DLSU Manila cancels exams, office work due to fire

MANILA, Philippines – The administration of De La Salle University (DLSU) campus in Manila has canceled the scheduled exams and office work on Thursday due to a fire that ravaged houses in Leveriza Street in Malate, which is near the University.

In an advisory posted on Facebook, the DLSU administration said it is calling off scheduled exams and office work on the Manila campus starting at 1 p.m.

“Due to the fire on Leveriza Street, and for the safety and security of the academic community, we are calling off scheduled exams and office work on the Manila Campus today, December 19, starting at 1:00 pm,” the post read.

“Respective colleges will announce separately the rescheduling of exams to tomorrow morning. Access to said campus shall be restricted,” it added.

The fire that hit the residential area in Barangay 720 in the Malate area started around 12 noon. It reached the fifth alarm.

No casualty was reported as of this posting.

The Bureau of Fire Protection has yet to determine the cause of the incident and the amount of damage to property.
