THE Department of Labor and Employment Central Visayas (Dole 7) has started conducting compliance inspections on business establishments in Central Visayas on the face shield requirement for workers, Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2020.
Luchel Taniza, Dole 7 information officer, in a text message sent to SunStar Cebu, said their monitoring is ongoing in so far as the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Dole Interim guidelines are concerned.
She said the schedule is every Tuesday to Friday, and now that the wearing of face shield has been added, this has now become part of the monitoring.
She said since the guidelines for the wearing of the face shield were made effective Aug. 15, they can have the result of the first week of inspection by Monday.
She said for Cebu City, Mandaue City and Lapu-Lapu City alone, there are around 9,500 registered establishments with more than 400,000 workers.
On Aug. 14, Dole Secretary Silvestre Belo III and DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez issued supplemental guidelines on workplace prevention and control of Covid-19.
These now include the mandatory wearing of face shields of employees in their work places to reduce Covid-19 transmission.
The guidelines state that face shields shall cover the entire face (completely cover the sides and length of the face.) If possible, face shields should extend to the ears and below the chin.
Visor-type face shields are not allowed.
Face shields and masks should always be worn together when interacting with colleagues, clients and/or visitors.
Face shields may be removed according to the demands of the work or when the occupational safety and health of the employees requires. (WBS)
