MANILA, Philippines — Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III warns the public against a bogus electronic solicitation letter purportedly from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) asking for monetary donations.

Bello explained in a memorandum that several DOLE Regional offices and attached agencies received an e-mail purportedly coming from the DOLE Administrative service.

The e-mail states that the Department seeks a minimum monetary donation of $100 (P5,000) supposedly for leukemia patients and orphans.

The e-mail was sent on December 26, 2019 with a subject “Donation request 2019/2020” under an e-mail address administrativeservice@gmail.corn (not .com).

Bello advised the public as well as all DOLE and attached agencies to immediately report similar scams.

“This e-mail is fake and completely bogus. We encourage everyone to be vigilant and to report similar incidents to us so that we can conduct our own investigation,” Bello concluded.
