The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has announced that six new freight trains for the Philippine National Railways (PNR) are set to arrive by December.
In statement the DOTr said the new freight trains is set to leave the Surabaya Port in Indonesia by November 30.
“Tatakbo ang mga ito sa linya ng PNR na may rutang Tutuban-FTI at Malabon-FTI (It will operate on the PNR line with the route Tutuban-FTI and Malabon-FTI)” the DOTr said.
Once the new train sets are operational, the DOTr said there will be additional 18 to 20 trips per day in the PNR.
The PNR ordered a total of 37 rail cars from Indonesia which is expected to be delivered from December 2019 to February 2020.—AAC
