DPWH waives expressway fee for health workers

MANILA, Philippines – Medical health workers may pass through expressways without paying any toll, according to the Department of Public Work and Highways (DPWH).

DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said toll operators San Miguel Corporation and the Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation agreed to waive tollgate fees for medical workers as tribute to their service amid the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak.

Health workers need to present their license card issued by the Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC) to avail of a special RFID sticker.

Health workers plying expressways operated by San Miguel Corporation may validate their RFID cards at temporary booths set up at Shell Magallanes Station and NAIAX toll gate from 8:00am to 7:00pm.

Meanwhile, health workers plying the expressways operated by Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation may validate their RFID cars at Balintawak Toll Plaza Customer Service Center or at CAVITEx Customer Service Center from 8:30am to 5:00pm.

The free toll for all medical health workers will remain in effect on the duration of the enhanced community quarantine. MNP (with details from Joan Nano)
