Drinking session cut short after man shot in Carcar

THEIR drinking session was cut short after a 25-year-old man was shot in Sitio Awayan, Barangay Poblacion 3, Carcar City, southern Cebu on Thursday at 9 p.m., November 24.

Police identified the victim as Jerson Geralde, 25, a resident of the said place, sustained a gunshot wound in the right cheek.

Lieutenant Colonel Ardioleto Cabagnot, chief of the Carcar Police Station, told Sunstar Cebu that Geralde was drinking liquor with his friend Aldren Castañares, 39, when the unidentified suspect arrived and shot the victim without any provocation.

The lone suspect immediately fled on board a motorcycle.

Cabagnot said the victim still could not speak when they visited him at the hospital.

He said Geralde just wrote something in a piece of paper which he said they are now being looked into in their investigation.

The police official said the victim, who is a known toughie in their area, was arrested in 2018 for a shooting-related incident.

He mentioned personal grudge as the possible motive of the incident, adding somebody might have retaliated against the suspect. (GPL, TPT)
