Drug den maintainer, 4 others nabbed during raid in Mambaling

OPERATIVES of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Central Visayas (PDEA 7) raided a drug den in Sitio Tugas, Barangay Mambaling, Cebu City on Friday afternoon, January 6, 2023, and arrested five persons.

They caught suspects Christ Jay Abellanosa, 27; Juvelyn Tabalin, 30; Pacito Jorge Campos, 36; and Ramon Tabalin, 55, in the act of sniffing shabu.

They also nabbed the drug maintainer, 46-year-old Rogelio Camilo Jr., alias Butchoy, the target of their operation.

They seized seven sachets of shabu weighing 10 grams with an estimated worth of P68,000 from the suspects.

Operatives also recovered the P240 buy-bust money as well as proceeds from the illegal drug trade and several drug paraphernalia.

The pieces of evidence were turned over to the PDEA 7 laboratory for examination and analysis.

According to Leia Albiar Alcantara, PDEA 7 information officer, they consider the dismantling of a drug den a high-impact operation since it has become the breeding ground for criminals.

She said Friday’s operation was their first against a drug den this year after conducting a case build-up for one month.

She said they received information from a resident that Camilo was selling 20 grams of shabu every week.

She said majority of his customers were construction workers, taxi drivers and jobless persons.

Alcantara said they are preparing to charge the five suspects with violating several sections of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, before the fiscal’s office. (AYB/PJB)
