A 25-YEAR-OLD man was arrested for peddling illegal drugs in Purok Starfish, Sitio Suba, Barangay Poblacion, Liloan, Cebu on Monday evening, May 30, 2022.

Major Ramil Morpos, chief of police of Liloan Municipal Police Station, identified the suspect as Harold Villafranca, a resident of the same sitio.

Morpos said personnel of Liloan Municipal Police Station conducted the drug bust in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas-Central Visayas.

Last April, during a Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (Badac) meeting mandated by the Department of the Interior and Local Government, officers of the groups mentioned and confirmed Villafranca as a drug pusher in their barangay.

Police said Villafranca was selling drugs in front of his house and he could dispose of five grams of shabu every week. His regular customers were habal-habal drivers.

Villafranca was arrested at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 30, in his house in Purok Starfish when one of the operatives disguised as habal-habal driver and tried to buy drugs.

Seized from his possession were five plastic sachets of shabu weighing about five grams and worth P34,000. The drugs were brought to the Regional Crime Laboratory Office-Central Visayas for examination.

Villafrana was detained at Liloan Municipal Police Station.

He will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (GDC)
